10. The soldiers strip Jesus for crucifixion – a reflection presented by @vahva for #easterjourneys

Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. – Genesis 3:7

And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” – Job 1:21

“I was naked and you clothed me” – Matthew 25:36

but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked – Mark 14:52

The soldiers stripped Jesus.

Naked.

Vulnerable.

Weak.

Exposed.

They divided your garments
and cast lots for your clothes.
Stripped of all dignity,
you had nothing of your own.
By your despoilment, O Lord,
clothe us in your mercy
which is rich beyond words.
