Keeping Close to God with @emmuk74 #Digidisciple

Over the last month a couple of things have happened which have shown me the importance of prayer and reading the Bible; clearly I needed reminding.

Firstly we went on holiday and I took the task of “getting away” a little too literally and slowly drifted away from my daily prayer and bible reading. It wasn’t an active decision but I’m sure it was a bit of rebellion going on.  I was fine for a few days and then I started feeling quite alone and lost.  For a week I lived with this feeling and it wasn’t until I got home, back to my routine of daily reading, that I started feeling better.  It took me another few days to realise what was going on.  Obvious now, and something I’ll try not to forget.

The second event which taught me about keeping God close was the Brilliance in Blogging awards.  My blog was a finalist in these awards, the first Christian blog to make it to the finals.  I faced my fears and went along to the award ceremony in London.  It was terrifying; all these bloggers I didn’t know chatting to each other.  I stood in that room and prayed for bravery and guidance.  Guess what happened?  I turned around and saw someone who I knew online and had hoped to meet.  Through the evening I met some amazing people, all of whom were interested in my faith, my blog and God.  We talked about life, we laughed about kids, we debated about church and we connected.  God was in and of and through that; no doubt.

I know this post has been very me-focused but I wanted to share my experiences.  Perhaps they speak to you; I’d love to know.
