What’s all this about Theology?

“it’s an ology – it’s a science”

Theology seems to be a word that scares people.

“I don’t do theology; I leave that for the Ministers”

That is the response of many when the word ‘theology’ comes up.  It seems so daunting, so difficult, so professional – it can’t be for me.

So you don’t talk about God?  You don’t ever think about God or the things of God?  You don’t ever try and work out what meaning God and faith have in your Life?

For that is all that theology is – nothing to be afraid of - just thinking about God.  There is nothing mysterious and magic about theology.

We all “do theology”.  When we read the bible and think about what it means to us; when we tweet a question, or a thought; when we write a prayer on our facebook status; when we retweet or “like” a quote.
