This may be anything from retelling the classic fables of old in such a way as to illustrate your contemporary point, to writing your own entirely original fiction in order to get your message across. More and more businesses are acknowledging the power of story, and encourage managers and consultants to articulate the company’s mission and challenges through this medium. A friend of mine is a senior management consultant, and we have often pored together over the need to create a narrative structure for even the driest of topics. It is expected of him, and many others in his profession, to have an overarching narrative to their presentation, which can then be expanded with details after the imagination of the client has been captured.
