Wisdom from the Bible on building a #digiparadise by @vahva

Moving on from our Greenbelt conversations I’ve been continuing to think about what a ‘digital paradise’ might look like. It made me think about Jesus’ teaching on the Kingdom of God – we’re in a strange time where the Kingdom of God is both here and yet not completely fulfilled. We are called to build God’s kingdom – God’s way of doing things – in the world around us. So how might we do this online?

I’ve been thinking about some of the verses in the New Testament that encourage us to live for God and how they might connect to our online activity. Here are some verses that I have slightly adapted for social media users which I’ve added to images that you may like to pin on Pinterest (if that’s your thing) to help challenge us to bring God’s kingdom online – to help us to create a digital paradise.

What bible verses are your guide for your online behaviour? Let us know in the comments below!

And whatever you share online, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3:17

For in the same way as you judge other people’s tweets, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. ‘Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, “Let me take the speck out of your eye,” when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? – Matthew 7:2-4

Be careful not to practise your righteousness in front of others online to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. – Matthew 6:1

With social media we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same profile come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? – James 3:9-11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up on social media, just as in fact you are doing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
